NFS Server - How to get a NFS Share in Vista?

Jim Brown

Hallo,
i installed 'Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications' (SUA) and corresponding
maintenance tools (Utilities and SDK for UNIX-based Applications_X86) but i
couldn't find anything to start a NFS Server. I'm familiar with 'Services
for Unix 3.5' in XP but i've read its outdated and unnecessary for Vista.

I used to configure 'username mapping' and 'NFS Share' tab in sharefolder
properties. I cannot find any of these in vista.

Can someone help me?

I asked the NFS team about this. Here is the response:

SUA, which the customer has installed, does not include any NFS components.
What the customer is looking for is "Server for NFS," which is only
available in Longhorn Server editions.

However, if the customer is interested in accessing NFS shares from either
Vista Enterprise or Ultimate editions, then the customer can install "Client
for NFS" (under "Services for NFS" in Vista's optional features list).
