nextel wireless modem

just purchased laptop with XP professional, and a nextel (motorola)wireless modem iM1100. which goes in the type II PCMCIA slot. after going online and downloading the newest download for the card it still is not recoginized by the system or just turns the computer off. Nextel said to get a hot fix? from service pack one but i can't seem to find it could anyone please help me with this problem. thanks chris

you have done everything correct.The question -is the modem itself
okay?Why are you not asking your vendor from whom you have purchased?
You may try the same from Add Hardware wizard in control panel.
