I have continuous problems with this page. I see that I'm in Page 1 of 27
(f.e.), but if i try to go to next page (right arrow) or directly go to page
12 & GO, always appears an Error Screen from Microsoft saying: "We’re sorry,
but there is no Microsoft.com Web page that matches your entry...."
Anyone with the same problem?

TIA

Both those operations work correctly for me, so I'm not sure what to
recommend. Do you have another browser installed on your machine you could
test with?

Hi

Nope, IE7 Beta 1.......... ;)

Wild horse maybe ;)

Opera 8.5 > Out of order

Firefox 1.5 Beta 2 > Also out of order

Fixed:
URL to NNTP is removed from news support page.

But now it´s then a secret how to use NNTP for this groups ;)

"Use any of the AntiSpyware newsgroups listed below to learn or share
information about Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta). The newsgroups
can be accessed from either the Web or through a newsgroup reader such
as Outlook Express. To learn more about how to participate in online
newsgroups and communities watch the Using online newsgroups video."

Why can´t they do something 100% correct ????? "Kindergarten" (german)

Wait a minute--are you saying that the issue is the URL you are getting to
the groups from?

Can you give me that URL?

My test was done using the link in Microsoft Antispyware's help menu.

Somebody did a quick fix. I did say earlier that I thought this might not
be possible (i.e. making the links work.) Providing the information to get
to the groups certainly should be though--I'll look at it again.

OK - I've looked at the page again, and provided feedback via the contactus
link.

In addition to there being no NNTP instructions provided, I note that the
previously available instructions are not available anywhere at the
moment--i.e. there's no public location for the servername and credentials
to connect via NNTP at this point. Not nice.

So I added them to the feedback.

Also, the sole remaining NNTP link on that page is not correct--it should
lead to a homeuser security group, but instead leads to a rights management
group.

So--I wrote them about all those issues. Since this critique involves more
than one detail, I have no expectation that they'll get it right.

Apologies yet again.

I've now reproduced the page not found failure--you get it via this page:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/newsgroups/default.mspx

To get proper access to the groups, use this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...rosoft.private.security.spyware.announcements

This will take you to the .announcements group, with the others visible in
the left pane.

I will endeavor to provide easily understandable feedback to the folks in
charge of the page which does not work. Part of my difficulty will be that
I don't know exactly what is wrong, but I'll at least provide a set of links
which work.

Feedback, as submitted:
------------------------------------------

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/newsgroups/default.mspx

Choose a web link on this page--Installation, for example. Connect to the
web-based group--so far, so good. Now scroll to the bottom and press the
yellow/orange right arrow to go to page two of the 27 available pages.

You will reach this error page:
http://www.microsoft.com/library/er...yware/software/newsgroups/reader/default.mspx

This error does not occur when reaching these groups via the link in
Microsoft Antispyware itself, which is of this form:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...rosoft.private.security.spyware.announcements

I don't know anything about HTTP, so I won't pretend to diagnose what is
wrong here--but it is annoying to the users who attempt to use these groups
via this page.

Thanks very much for your attention to these details--as you can see--these
links are getting used, and the work you are putting into getting it right
is appreciated.

Hi Bill

Found a new toy "floating" around and this is maybe a challenge to
solve......... ;)

The newsgroups using MSXML and now I was promted to install this
ActiveX control for IE7.

So Firefox and Opera can we dismiss.

And this is working !
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...rosoft.private.security.spyware.announcements

This has something for sure to do with MSXML ActiveX control and that a user
have the DCOM module installed within IE addons. I installed SP8 now ?

It must be so also for IE6 SP2.

Indeed a mess............

Thanks for your answers !

Thank you very much, Bill, this link works ok.

Excuse me if my bad "spanglish" doesn't let me to be more explicit with my
problem.

Bill Sanderson

Language was not a problem--I just didn't have any idea what link you were
using to get to the groups. In fact, I still don't know how to get to that
page from www.microsoft.com. I just know that the page is messed up.

I'm in communication with some very sensible folks about the issues on the
page--I believe they'll fix it.

That link doesn't work for me yet, nor does the page.

Can you give me a pointer to what you installed?

Hi Bill

The key issue for this is MSXML beacuse
all of these functions/links uses this.
And also several javascripts (view source)

The URL worked yesterday.

Maybe MS should follow standard XML ;) The programmers are probably
trapped within a mess with MSXML.

Nevertheless it must be easy to solve with a skilled programmer which
can this, IE6, IE7, maybe to ask IE7 and Office 12 team ;)
or buy a board UI from a 3rd party.

It must also be the same challenge with all other support groups for
different MS support ? But this has probably low priority.......

Also the news feed is a problem.

Hi, Bill.
Here I am again, and again with problems.

The link I used the first time, was from Microsoft (searching "Microsoft
Antispyware" in Google):
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Here you have a link to newsgroup and Web based viewer about Installation:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/sec...&cr=US&r=e23dbd8f-cd66-4363-a118-7a12aba7c8a9

If you access by this link, you will have the problem I was speaking in my
first post.

After that, the link you propossed
(
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...rosoft.private.security.spyware.announcements),
worked OK, but only during the first day, because right now is not possible
to use it, because it links you to another page error from Microsoft
http://www.microsoft.com/library/er...th=/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

So we are nor worse than before, because the first error still occurs (I
cannot go acroos differents pages with yellow right arrow o GO key) and the
second link doesn't work.

Grrrr...

You are absolutely right--it is all broken at the moment. And the inside
contact I had has left for vacation.

About all I can recommend is that anyone seeing these problems use the
contactus link at the very bottom of whatever page you arrive at to provide
feedback. They need to hear that it is broken.

You can still use NNTP--in Outlook Express or any other newsreader.

- NNTP Server: privatenews.microsoft.com
- Account name: privatenews\spyware
- Password: spyware

The email notification of a reply to your post contains two links, neither
of which work.

Synch to the NNTP side is slow--but working, apparently.

Some stuff is still broken, and I'm not sure I dare complain!
