Newsgroup Logon problem

I can not log on to my newsgroups. The user name ,password
box pops up. I put the correct names in put it keeps popping
up blank.

Your newsgroups server may have some of the same restrictions
email servers often have. Some of them require that you enter
your username with no CAPITAL LETTERS. Some of them
require that you follow it with the part of your email address
that starts with @, and some of them require that you don't.
Many of them require that you be careful about which letters in
your password are CAPITAL, and which are lowercase. Any
error messages about your username and password are often
vague about exactly what the problem was, to avoid helping
people who try to guess usernames and passwords.
 
I haveMcaffee. However I was connecting to my newsgroups
for a while before this problem started.

McAfee is one of the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
Often it takes time before symptoms of trouble start showing up.
The only way you can prove or disprove whether McAfee is the
culprit is to do a trial uninstall. Follow that up with their debris removal
tool:

Your other option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is not
as prone to suffering bad effects from aggressive antivirus programs:
