Using Vista-Windows Mail. Every 2 or 3 days my newsgroup list disappears.
Resetting the list does not restore the list. Subscribed newsgroups continue
to display properly. The only solution I have found is rebooting the
computer. Also the functions of the task bar buttons quit working when the
newsgroup list disappears. This also is solved by rebooting. Any ideas on a
fix? thanks

What if any antivirus programs are you using? Some of them tend to cause
assorted problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Also, does the newsgroup server name stay? If so, try clicking on the
triangle to the left of it.

If you are running McAfee or Norton antivirus, that could well be the
source of your problem. Windows Mail is not compatible with
most McAfee and Norton security programs. Those will need to
be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
