i am trying to set up Outlook to be my news group reader. i
followed the instructions in the help file but the news
icon was placed on the toolbar and i wanted it to look
similiar to OE where it is listed under my mail folders.
anyways in the process of trying to remove it from there, i
seem to have lost it entirely. when i go back to customize
the toolbar, news is no longer listed and i cant find it
hidden anywhere else. i have tried doing a repair install
and still no joy.

any ideas as to whats gone on?

Outlook is not a news reader. It uses Outlook Express and fakes it. Use OE
directly. Look up newsreader in Outlook help and you'll find this: "If you
have not previously set up a newsreader, Microsoft Outlook automatically sets
up the Outlook Express Newsreader."
