My toolbar contains a <News> button which used to start OE correctly.
OE still starts correctly from the programs start list. No problem there.
After a recent update the News button no longer works and it now brings up
the folder <Program Files\Project Files\System\MAPPI\1033>.
The Menu <View - GoTo> no longer has a <News> option and I appear unable to
delete the <News> button from the menu.
I would appreciate help in this matter.

Your Outlook version is in play, but you did not post it. It is always in
play.
If your version is 2003, To get the News command back, go back to the
Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.
