News readers, OE, Outlook??????

Is there a way to read newsgroups with Outlook? Or, is there a way to
make Outlook Express not show the "Local Folders" section when you haven't
declared it as your primary mail program?

Is there a calendar program that will remind me of appointments even though
Outlook is not running? I like being able to drag appointment messages on
the the calendar but if Outlook isn't running, I miss meetings!

msimn.exe /newsonly

or
