News groups-difficulty

Have you checked if they are Read Only at present? Also the servers could be down or the groups could be pulled altogether

The first is working for me at present (but won't if you're not
connected via Orange); aioe has been up and down (with much more down
than up!) for most of August. There seems to be some possibility of it
being up and running again before too long, but, in the meantime, have
you tried greatnowhere? It's also free. You do need to get a username
and password though:

....and, incidentally, (without wishing to be pedantic) they're servers,
not groups.
