News & Accounts Items missing

D

Don Cossitt

News menu item dissapeared from the menu GO | News. I attempted to right
click Customize | Commands | Go but News is missing from there as well.

Also, Accounts... is missing from the menu Tools | Accounts... NO way to
customize as it is missing from there as well..

Using Outlook 2003 on a Windows XP Home PC.

TIA

You aren't ever looking at any posts are you?

Well, yes - my bad. However, I did look at those posts and it does *NOT*
deal with why the options are missing in the menus - they were there at one
time. Also, one of the posts states "outlook *never*" was news client.
However, just this moment when accessing news, I was prompted to "make
Outlook" principle news reader. Go figure.

At any rate, I appologize and will give due dilligence in the future.

Thanks

Yes they do.
Reposting the solution for the situation when you lose the "News" option:
To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

Understand that in no way does this make Outlook a news reader. It simply
adds a menu item to launch Outlook Express to read news. Outlook has never
been a news reader and never will be a news reader.
