Newly Formatted Computer Wont Connect to Net

Dennis

Hi,
I just reformatted my computer and its running and all.
However, it wont get on the internet. I have a homenetowrk running with
a belkin wireless router. My other computer is connected fine (both are
wired) However, this computer wont connect. everything is plugged in
and the router shows a green light under the status for that computer.
When I go to IE, it just gives me a cant connect and an option to work
offline/retry.

Why is this happening? Any help, please.
thanks

can we presume that you have checked the obvious stuff?
NIC adapter in device manager, drivers installed, no error messages
Internet connections shows no errors on Local Area connection.

Have you tried "repair" local area connection?
what error are you getting?

connect this pc directly to cable modem. does it work now?

is your modem connection using usb or rj cable?

there is no network adapter listed in device manager?
Do you have install/setup cd/disk for network card?
What card do you have?
windows usually has a driver for most network adapters.

there is no Local are connection in "network connections"?

Go to Start> Help and Support> Select Hardware from the lower left column.
You can find your answer and more from the help topics you will get.
You may need to download the drivers on another computer and transfer them
to a floppy or CD. Perhaps you have the drivers on a disk that came with
your computer or Ethernet card.

This was my first time reformatting so I didnt know that certain things
would come without drivers. Luckily, I saved the disk from my mobo,
which also had the driver to my intel proset. Then I installed my sound
card and so on with disks I had.
However, without the disks i can see how this can be quite difficult.
thanks everyone.
