Is there any way that you can share your hardware.

you can share a printer on the network right. Is it possible to share the
scanner (installed on a different machine on the same network)

with no problem for 5 users, I can give you the model name later as it is at
my home.

If the scanner manufacturer doesn't provide the OEM software, simple Google
search provides a lot of links.
It's hard to have a dedicated workstation for the scanner and other rarely
used equipment or tasks, but this is the best approach. The hardware and
software shouldn't be a high-end one.

The model we purchased is HP PSC 2510, not a very high-end model, but
sufficient for home use.
