newbie needs help

I have a a7v333 with athlon 1700+ and 256mb of ddr266 memory. I
check the manual and it said I could add two more sticks of 256mb each
up to ddr333. I bought Kingston valueram 256 333ddr and the system is
unstable with all three, works fine with just the old, and won't make
a peep if I use the two Kingstons.

Could my memory be bad or did I miss read the manual?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, the guy who built the computer
is now on tour with a band:(

Thanks much.

Go to Google and get "memtest86" v3.0
With this memory test you can use trial-and-error method to find out which
combination works and to tune-up your BIOS for the lowest common
denominator, probably CAS 3 [T3]. BIOS usually has a setting [by SPD] to
automatically read the EEPROM (SPD) on the mem strip that has tunigng
characteristics for the chip. Best not to use the set [by SPD] when mixing
and matching odd memory.... it could automatically set BIOS for faster
memory . Set manually when mixing and verify with memtest86.
