newbie looking for reccomendations

I'm almost ready (within 45 days) to upgrade my computer system from an
AMD750. I don't expect to bring over any of my old hardware, this will be a
new build from scratch.

When I built my 750, Asus was the best MB to have, so I'm posting here for
advice.

I'm pretty sure I want a 939 socket board, and there are only a few listed
on ASUS's website, so that narrows it down quite a bit. I'll probably get a
lower end processor now, and upgrade to a faster and/or dual core once apps
really start taking advantage of it. Overall I'm looking for reliability; I
won't be overclocking or anything. I'll do some gaming but I'm not
hardcore, so I don't need that SLI unless it is just the way to go anyway.

If there are any lurkers who want to recommend non-ASUS boards (no
flamewars please) I'm open to consider other options if they have
functionality or stability not found in the ASUS 939 boards.

Many thanks,
Keith

We are a computer dealer and we have had excellent luck with ASUS boards
over the years. I recommend the A8N-E model since you don't need
SLI. The earlier revisions had noisy chipset fan problems but not any more.
