I need some guidance please. I 'used' to have a simple home network between
my computer and my wife's computer ... connected via a 'crossover cable'.
Our son set this up; and he is now in Iraq ... and unreachable for assistance.

I recently reformatted both computers; and have now tried to set up the home
network by following Microsoft's click and complete process.

I named my computer with my first name; and my wife's with her first name.
Then described mine as MASTER and hers as SLAVE. The workgroup on both was
named HOME.

I designated both computers as connecting direct to the internet (we have 2
telephone lines).

Hope that pretty well describes the basics. Oh! Both have xp on them.

Now, bottom line is I cannot seem to "see" either computer via each other's
directory. I clicked on my computer in each's directory; but nothing shows
up for the other.

I used to not have any problem with this routine.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Thank you. That helped me along somewhat. Had already done most of the
steps but was useful in verifying and checking.

Now I can see each others shared folders. But another problem has popped up
into the picture.

I have gone into the printers folder and have marked each printer (we each
have one) for sharing. In one instance (Wife's), my printer does not show up
on her directory; but her's does on mine.

But, in using her printer (via my unit) to try and print out something,
nothing is printed.

So there is something here that I am missing also.
