New XP Home Install

When installing XP Home (SP1) on a brand new system, with
all brand new hardware, Setup hangs while copying files.
System details: Abit KV7 motherboard, AMD Athlon XP 3200,
2x 256MB DDR400 RAM, Plextor DVD+-RW drive, WD400 40Gig
7200rpm HD. Video card is an old PCI card. I have this
card in because the instructions for my ATI All-in-Wonder
9600 Pro say to install the AGP driver before installing
the card on MB's with non-Intel chipsets (I have VIA
chipset).

I think that covers it.

Did you first run the Compatibility Wizard and get a clean slate?
Where, exactly, does the installation hang? Have you tried installing
with the ATI card in place, despite ATI's cautions? (I certainly would
have.)
