Yesterday I did a clean new install of XP Pro and MS
Office XP which installed and worked fine. It functioned
fine for several hours and numerous restarts. No other
software is installed other than the Wiondows updates and
the Office updates from the MS WEB site.

This morning when I booted the machine, I get the Intel
motherboard splash screen and then a window "HTDR is
missing - Press and key to continue.

When I press a key, it reboots to the same error window.
I have tried F8 to get to safe mode, but nothing.

I tried inserting the WinXP Pro install CD, but nothing.

I tried to reinsatll WinXP Pro to repair, but no luck.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it?

make sure you dont have a disk in your floppy drive.
there are also numerous other solutions you can try, try
google.
