New VPN is always Dial-up

XP SP2 laptop issued by my work. My account is in the local Admin group.

Every time I run through the wizard to create a new VPN connection, it comes
out as a Dial-up connection type rather than a Virtual Private Network type.
I've done it a dozen times and there is NO way I'm doing it wrong. I've read
through several guides which all give the same directions which I'm
following. It's not rocket science.

RACM and RAACM and Telephony services are all running.

Why does a new VPN connection always come out as a Dial-up type even though
I'm following the setup instructions to the letter? Could it be software or a
policy installed?

I saw a case like this one. I think it is something to do with missing WAN
Miniport. These search results may help. Please post back with the result.

You hit the nail on the head! Thank you! I googled that and found an entry on
the chicagotech.net forum explaining this very thing and how to reinstall
them. Got that done and then successfully created a true VPN. Thanks!
