New user networking problem

Trouble with setup. Can't seem to complete the setup. Windows says when
attemp to configure 2 computers in one common cable modem it says to use one
computer and share the connection. I don't necessarily want to have both
computers turned on at the same time. Then at the end of the setup, it
reboots and says that setup was incomplete.

Anybody else experience this problem?
