I have had to put identical logins on the server for people to be able to save to shared folders on our file server PC. It's Windows XP Pro. Now, when you try to see the name of the file's owner, you see it correctly, except you don't see the computer name of the workstation from where it was saved. Instead you see the file server name. Is there a way to correct this?

That is the way it works. About the best you could do is to enable logon events in Local Security Policy of the computer acting as a file server though it may be done already and you probably could then see a type 3 logon event at the time the file was created/updated that should show the originating workstation.
