NEW-Unique? How do I make copies of received emails in Outlook 200

I use Win XP Pro (sp2), and Outlook 2003 as my email client. I use Word 2003
as my email authoring tool. I've heard that the SAFEST way to preview/view
email is by using the "navigation pane," because when viewing new incoming
emails there..."they are in a protected/safe area," (i.e. virus exposure,
etc.) but I can't copy any of them to folders OTHER THAN my personal Outlook
folders, along the left Outlook margin. How can I make copies for separate
hard drive non-outlook folders? When I do a "select all" - it just highlights
the LIST of emails in my in-box (the narrow band going top to bottom in the
center of the Outlook inbox page). When I try to highlight ALL of the
"HEADER/INFO" as well as the MESSAGE DISPLAYED BELOW, after clicking within
the right side of the Outlook email viewing pane/page, I can't select it ALL
simultaneously, i.e., just PART of the "intro" above, OR the message below,
but NOT both. When only one email is highlighted, and in view, it won't allow
me to copy ALL of the data. How do I get around this? I want to copy it into
Word, Notepad, etc., and store it elsewhere. THANKS !!!

it's usually ok to open messages.
Why do you want to save, as you call it, "hard copies"?

File | Save As ...
or Export or any of a numbe rof methods can back up emails.

Bill- Thank you for showing me what should have been obvious to me at the
outset! I never thought to do a "Save As" way of handling it, since the
"Save" function would not work. I think you may have misunderstood some of my
verbose phrasing, because: 1. I do ALWAYS open the emails FULLY in the
navigation/view pane. 2. What I actually said was "save copies" elsewhere
(outside of Outlook) on my hard drive, not "hard copies." I'm in the habit of
wanting ALL of my outgoing, incoming, and ALL other documents composed on my
computer, but only dealing with one topic, saved in ONE file folder, so I
have EVERYTHING together (audit trail, if you will), and not spread out all
over my one 120 gig hard drive. I also, as a safety precaution archive all of
my email, and back-up my hard drive. In addition ALL of my in/out emails are
scanned by Norton/Symantec/Webroot. Thanks for the quick accurate (obvious to
the initiated) response. I just recently started using Outlook though. Tim@SFO
