New Speakers NOT WORKING

A

AtoZ girl

I got new speakers today and unplugged my old ones and plugged in the
new ones. The lights on the speakers turn on, so I'm 99.9% they are
plugged in the right places on the back on the cpu, but no sound will
come out of them when I play something (like on windows media or
winamp, etc.) I search alittle on what I could do to fix the problem
and went to the control panel and sound and went to sound devices and
come to find out the name of the new speakers weren't on the list Do I
need to add it manual? I'm really confused becuase I thought speakers
were just plug and play. If you understand any of this please let me
know if there is anythin I can do. Thanks

It would nice to know what kind of speakers they are. Check the connections
to the computer again!
Are they color coded?

Let's see..
Your old speakers *worked*.
You bought new speakers.
Unplugged the old ones, noting where you unplugged them from, plugged in the
new ones in the same manner and no longer have sound.

Did you plug back in the old speakers? Do you get sound?

Unless you have USB speakers - no drivers are needed. Any 8mm connected
device pretty much become speakers. So - if it doesn't work and the old
ones do, take 'em back or learn to use them (is there a switch for
headphones, are they powered speakers and do you have them plugged into
power, etc..)
