We currenlt have 2 servers running windows 2000 Active
directory and around 1400 accounts 1maching is the global
catalogue server, the other DHCP server and print server.
both servers run ad-intregrated dns.

We are replacing the servers and are considering moving up
to 2003 however using ADMT is not feasible as.
I plan to build the servers from scratch as
a) I want to keep the others servers and not upgrade them
because they are being replaced.
b) We can fall back to a the 2000 servers if disaster happens.

Does anyone know of a way of saving the current setup and
active directory infra including polices and systems state
sturctive from 2000 to move to the and installing on the
new 2003.

I am planning a test seperate from the existing network
should I call the servers the same name etc any ideas would
be welcome

You cant "backup and restore" to 2003. I think you best option if you cant
use ADMT is to run domain & forest prep and introduce a Windows 2003 DC. To
be sure you can roll back to Windows 2000 you need a backup of all the DCs
to roll back schema changes.
