I am setting up a new Windows 2000 File/Print Server.

We use Jet Direct cards.

We can set this up in one of two ways.

Using the HP Utility (Add Printer Wizard)

Add the Windows Component (Printer Services for Unix) and use LPD

Is either way better?

1. Assign static IP addresses on the printers, presuming there's a console
on the printer to do this.
2. In Windows server, add standard TCP/IP ports that refer to those IP
addresses (in the server properties in your printers applet)
3. Add local printers using those ports, and using the correct drivers
4. Share the printers
