New "refresh" beta available - but links on MS web site are wrong

or use the short link of:

The problem appears that the validated download is pointing to the old
beta version. You need to skip validation to get the link that points
to the new version. Hopefully Microsoft learns from this and stops just
calling the installer file "MicrosoftAntispywareInstall.exe" and
actually adds the version number to the filename to ensure they are
pointing to the correct one.

When did you perform your *validated* download? This morning I did a
validated and non-validated download and the same file got retrieved
(same number of bytes and a binary file compare showed they were equal
files). So Microsoft fixed their web site since my test. You can only
download what Microsoft pointed to for the file, and I confirmed AT THAT
TIME that Microsoft was pointing to their old beta version file with
their "validated" link which is probably why MYK was getting screwed up
on a new install which was actually the old beta version. It is also
possible both the validated and non-validated file links were screwed up
for a time but not at the time that I tested. It is possible both links
pointed to the new version, got screwed up later, and then got
corrected. Fact is, I cannot download the old version from a link
unless that link points to the old version. It's not like the browser's
temporary file cache would result in having the old version since the
download is performed no matter what is in the cache. The temporary
problem occurred but probably would not have occurred if Microsoft
bothered to add the version number to the filename that the link points
to and gets downloaded.

Rather than use a direct link, I followed the navigation that users
would normally follow to get the "refresh" beta version; i.e., I went to
Microsoft's security web page and clicked on the link to get the
download, once going through the validation and another time without
validating (which requires you to flush the browser's cache and delete
Microsoft's cookie to eliminate being already validated on your next
download). See my other reply to JoeM showing that something has
changed since my test which AT THAT TIME showed the validated and
non-validated downloads offered different files.
