new printer

i have a new hp psc 1510 all in one. my computer doesn't recognize my usb
ports when i plug in the cable. two things here, i put the printer on
another computer and it said"new hardware found". doesn't do that on mine. i
know the usb ports work because i can plug my mp3 player in all of them and
the it works.
any help would be greatly appreciatied. thanks

First you have to install the software before you connect the device to the
PC... then it should find it.

i tried that. I get to a point in the intallation when it asks me to plug in
the usb cable,i do that, and i am supposed to hit "next" when the next box
becomes live, but the box never does.

After you connect the printer to the PC, did you turn the printer on?
