New owner~Help!

I have purchased this Dell from a friend. I have done the Dell ownership
change, and have figured out how to get my name on the sign on screen. i
have managed to get the previous owner's name off and replaced with mine, but
she had allowed her son to use the computer too, and i can not get his name
and info off, so that only mine remains.

I am not real computer-literate, so I am hoping someone can help me soon. I
am trying to do everything right.

You didn't say exactly how you got your name on the sign on screen.

The simplest solution is to go 'Control Panel' 'User Accounts' and create
a new user name of your choice with administrator rights.

Log off and then log back in with the account you just created.

Then 'Control Panel' 'User Accounts' to delete the unwanted accounts.
Make sure you say 'yes' to deleting that users files.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

contains the ''RegisteredOwner'' subkey which contains the name which
appears on the 'general tab' when you click on 'system' in control panel.
