new optical drives still ata33

I did some research on optical drive transfer rates and the majority of the
new optical drives are still ATA33 standard, including Plextor 740 and Nec
3550. The only dual-layer burners that are ATA66 standard are the Pionner
DVR-110D and the LiteOn SOHW-1693S. LG also has an ATA66 drive but it has
bad reviews because it still can't play most movies and is generally a crap
company. Even their fridges are catching fire and burning houses down.
Anyways, I have a Plextor 712A that is also ata33 standard and having this
drive hooked up with my ata66 drives definately slowed performance down
dramatically. I'm wary of the DVR-110D as it already refused to play one of
my movies. The LiteOn 1693S has worked very well and doesn't have that
"cheap" feel that the pioneer has. Beware of what you buy.
