I'm pretty new to xp, and the use of adaware with xp
it comes up with a rather large list of new.net files
and marks them with a high priority, does xp need these
files, and why does adaware mark them as spyware/malware???

also how do I get them restored to the system, if I really
need them, do the sfc/scannow thingy?? sounds good to me.

New.net files are NOT XP nor System32 files. Delete them using Spybot.

In general, both Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D have pretty good writeups on
why you ought to delete the stuff they flag. Read the help files that
come with these programs. They also note, however, that deleting some
files installed by these various malware products may cause the products
to cease to function. Both Ad-Aware and Spybot have "restore" features
built-in, just in case you want the deleted spyware/adware back. Again,
these are fairly powerful tools -- read the instructions before you take
action.

Sfc /scannow will NOT restore non-Windows files.

After doing a rather lengthy search, I found some details
about new.net, and the scumware they are, rather nasty
people worse then the usual spyware/malware, altering
system files and host, sometimes you lose an hd merely by
having this garbage on your hd, talk about destructive...
I think I'm gonna mail them an enraged porcupine, just for
good measure..Hopefully it will slap them where it hurts
the most.
