new messages not appearing

My windows mail seems to have developed a problem this week. When I receive
new emails they appear in the inbox but are not displayed on the screen. I
have to click on another box , either sentbox or outbox and then go back to
inbox and they appear. Also if I click on delete message the email stays on
the screen instead of automatically going to the deleted item box. If I click
on deleted items , the emails are there and when I go back to the inbox they
have gone.

Sounds like your antivirus program may be interfering with Windows Mail.
Which antivirus is it?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.
