Does your sound card work? Do you get other system sounds? If you change
the new mail notification sound to another sound file, does it work?

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, paul asked:
| doesn't work. No new mail sound either. Any ideas?
And we are supposed to know how you configured your options in Outlook?
Like:
- "Display a notification message when new mail arrives" (disruptive,
not often used).
- "Play a sound" (configured in Sound applet).
- "Shown an envelope icon in the system tray".
The last 2 options are typically enabled to for new mail notification.
No conflict that I've heard of, especially if only one is running at a
time.
Does the new mail notification show up if you run Outlook in its safe
mode ("outlook.exe /safe")? That will load Outlook without any plug-ins
(Tools -> Options -> Other -> Advanced).
Do you actually get new mail (but without the notification)? Or do you
see new mail pending in your account using a webmail interface but
cannot retrieve it using Outlook?
You could try running Repair under the Tools menu.
Thanx for the reply. I get new mail within Outlook, that
is, the mail just shows up with no sound and no little
envelope in the system tray. I will try both safe mode and
repair. Thanx for the puts.
