New Mail Icon

Windows Mail is not displaying a New Mail Notification icon in the system
tray. Is this an option that I just can't find? It's terrible inconvenient,
since i don't usually have sound turned on I don't know when I get new mail!

Help!
 
Pardon me for butting in.
Would the following bring out the new-mail icon when new e-mail arrives ?
Right click on task bar > Properties > Notification area > customize >
scroll to find " You have new e-mail ", click it to SHOW > OK

Brink, that's not the same thing. New Mail Notification
is built-in to Windows Mail and does not require an add-on.
 
Audio isn't the only portion of the New Mail notification.
The normal tray icon gets overlayed with a gold colored
envelope when new mail has arrived. If the OP can't see
the tray icon, it may need a customization setting change.

The third party add-on is for the purpose of minimizing WM
to the tray icon instead of minimizing to the taskbar.
