New machines, old discs??

Hi:
I'm wondering if someone could tell me the way to get your old OSes onto a
new machine when your old one dies.
We have 2 machines - the one running XP home has a 300 processor and I can't
update any of my programs. The other machine is somewhat faster, but running
Win 2000.
We have bought the components for two new machines, and would like to be
able to reinstall our old OSes, and then upgrade both machines to XP Pro.
Is there a way to do this? Will it involve cables??

TIA for any ideas or advice,

Assuming the old o/s are retail copies, not OEM, theres no need to install
them on a new sys if your then going to upgrade to winxppro. You start the
installation of the upgrade cd and when it complains you pop the old o/s cd
in, once accepted, continue with the installation.
If the old o/s are OEM then they die with origonal PC
