New LCD Monitor, "2 D-SUB No SIGNAL"

L

Longfellow

Fitted new LCD monitor using 15-pin D-SUB cable.
This to replace a CRT monitor.
LCD running brilliantly, but, on computer shut down, at
Windows closing last gasp, a little error window showing
"2 D-SUB No Signal" appears.
Same window appears on start up.
In simple terms, what does this mean?
How can I get rid of the error message?
W XP Home.
P4 1.6 GHz.
GeForce 5200 128MB AGP 8X graphics
with NVIDIA 5.2.1.6 driver.
LCD monitor has DVI cable capability.
I presume that the old CRT monitor driver
is still in the system, if this is part of the problem,
how can I remove it?

Hello. I treated myself to a new LCD monitor a few months ago, and it
does the same thing, although the wording is slightly different it means
the same. It just means the computer signal to the monitor has stopped,
and the monitor notes the fact - that's all. Mine drops into a standby
mode after a few seconds of no signal. If I turn it on before hitting
the power switch to turn on the computer it gives the no signal message
again for a few seconds until the computer gets enough "way" on to send
a signal to it. Just normal operating really. FWIW my old 17" CRT Compaq
monitor does the same thing. Hope this helps.

Thats normal, it takes a few seconds for the bios to send signal to start
video card at boot up. Once the Video card has initalized the monitor will
have signal and work just fine, the same is true at shut down as the video
siginal is ended...Aloha

Perfectly normal, Longfellow. I think LCD monitors take a second or two to
react to the start or ending of the video signal - mine does exactly the
same. (Acer AL1912, shows "no video signal" at power up and power down).

HTH Tony.
