I'm used to seeing the $NtUninstallKBxxxxx files in C:\Windows after a
windows update (WindowsXP SP2). I've installed the latest IE6.0 cumulative
update, BK834707. But it also created a new folder, something like:
'$ht-mid$' also in C:\Windows (I might have those letters off by a bit. )
It's nearly as big as the uninstall folder.

Is it necessary to keep this folder and it's contents? If it isn't
necessary for uninstall or something, I'd rather delete it.

You need to keep both folders if you should wish to remove the
critical update KB834707. If you're satisfied that you will not
remove this update, you can remove both folders or at least delete the
contents of them.

It appears to be reserve copies of the new modules that have been
installed (from the IE 6 rollup update rather than a Windows one) , by
way of being a backup like dllcache or ServicePackFiles. To be kept, I
think

Hi

You should not delete the $hf_mig$ directory.

The hf_mig directories are part of the hotfix migration and
multibranch support system, so you might need them in the future.
