I read the previous message re: a New Installation VS. Upgrade. I made the
same mistake. Where is MS Office? How about Excel and Word? I presumed XP
had these programs yet I cannot find them. And finally, how do I get my old
files in Excel, etc saved into XP? I am able to search for the files and find
them all, yet they cannot be opened? Thank you, I'm lost! ACD

MS Office as well as the components thereof such as Excel, Word etc have
never been a part of any operating system.
Many computer manufacturers have included some or all of MS Office bundled
with their computers.

You may need to locate the MS Office CD so you can reinstall MS Office.

If you havent done so, now is the time to make a backup/copy of all your
data.
As for the initial part of your post. You started a new thread so we've
v.little idea as to what you've done, or how

Made *what* same mistake? If you can't keep your reply within the same
thread, and quote the relevant portion(s) of the earlier post, we've no
way of knowing what you're talking about.

Unless you've installed them, they'll still be on the CD.

I presumed XP
had these programs yet I cannot find them.

You presumed incorrectly. Neither the Microsoft Office application
suite, nor any of its individual component applications (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any*
Windows operating system. They are, and always have been, separate
applications, that must be purchased and installed separately.

And finally, how do I get my old
files in Excel, etc saved into XP? I am able to search for the files and find
them all, yet they cannot be opened? Thank you, I'm lost! ACD

Purchase and install Excel.
