New install...nothing works.

I just did a complete install of Windows XP Home Edition onto a machine that
previously had Windows 2000 on it. The owner got a virus and it came my way.
I used WD's tools to write 0's to the drive and then installed XP. The
install went fine but now when I try to install any other program it tells
me the file is corrupt. I tried installing Winzip from 4 different places
that had it and none of them worked. 7 programs total have told me "file is
corrupt".

I am using a AMD 1.8ghz
384 megs of ram
Western Digital 30 gig drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to check your hard drive for any damage on the sectors when you zerod your hdd, you may need to download the ibm hitachi drive fiteness test here's lin

really good program, runs of it's own boot disk and runs test, will tell you if your drive is fubar'
