New Install from Recovery Disc

Hi,
I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D 1840 laptop that died early this week. The
HD was unrecoverable, so I've fitted a new Hitachi 80G and as per
instructions on the Recovery Disc, partitioned the drive and installed XP and
SP2 to C:. It also says to install necessary drivers from the Drivers and
Utility disc which the on board DVD-RW can't or won't read. Looking in the
Device Manager, there are yellow ?'s against the...
1) Base system device
2) Multimedia audio controller
3) Network controller
4) PCI modem
5) Video controller (VGA compatible).
There are probably other faults I haven't come across yet but wiil deal with
as and when.
My question is, If I run the Recovery disc to repair the install will it fix
this or do I have to search for drivers and can sombody please tell me which
drivers to search for as I'm not too experienced at this, but learning fast?

TIA
J.J.

Thanks for the suggestions Mike.
1. The optical drive will play other DVD's and disc does work on my desktop,
it connects to a browser and then will scan for missing drivers or newer
versions to down load from FS. But I need it to scan my laptop, not the
desktop.
2. The DVD drive does show in My Computer. When I start the disc in the
laptop it comes up...
'Externe Exception E06D7363' does this help?

Hi Mike,
I've jumped the gun already. I did a Repair on the XP-install and it must
have added a few more files 'cos on reboot the optical drive could read the
'Drivers and Utilities disc', huraaah!!!
I'm now in the process of installing latest security updates etc. and
getting back to normal operations.

Good news. Everything back to normal now.
I'm just tweaking everything to the way I want it, then I'll do a drive
image of the pristine set up, to save time if it happens again.
Thanks for all the advice and time spent to everyone who responded, Thank you.
