new HDD with XP Pro

I have partitioned and formatted (NTFS) a 200GB drive (3
partitions) using Partition Magic.
Now I want to load WinXP Pro. But Partition Magic will
only assist installation to the primary HDD, XP will only
install to the primary HDD (there is no choice), and the
XP cd does not boot or run from DOS.
How do I get XP installed, and nominate that partition as
the master (and thus C drive)?

The XP CD is bootable, in terms of their being no OS on the machine, XP will
default to the first partition. Where did you want to install the OS?
