New HD: "Error Loading OS"

I just purchased a new Maxtor 80GB 7200 RPM HDD. I plan
to use it as my primary drive. I imaged the drive using
Maxtor's MaxBlast 3 utility. The MB recognizes the new
drive just fine. When I try to boot from it, I go through
the usual bios activity, then get to a point where I get
the following message:

"Error Loading OS"

I took the drive back to the store and exchanged it for a
new one, but I get the same message, so I know it's not a
bad drive. Ant help? Thanks!

You did not mention what o/s you are using but to really
important issue is that the o/s system must be placed on
the new drive before you can boot from it. Either install
the operating system to the new drive, before identifying
it as to boot device in SETUP, or simply copy the old
disk to the new. The copy utility should prompt you with
an option to make the new disk bootable.

Hope this helps.
