I'm making progress. Used Tweak UI to select a new "special folder" on
the F: drive. Called it Shared Documents just like the one on C:

It is currently moving ~20 GB over using drag + drop in Win Exp.

Using Tweak UI seemed to make the difference.

Did you learn that from the "How to Move Shell Folders (and contents)" link
that was posted in the thread I showed you before? I looked it over
afterwards and bookmarked it after reading about using TweakUI to change
shell folder locations. I don't need it now but I thought it would be very
useful.

I found it independently, but you're right, that was what Kent England was
suggesting on Kelly's Korner.

Evidently Tweak UI edits the registry key.

If I had this to do over again I would have taken the advice about cloning
the whole disk over.

The new drive came with Acronis and a disk full of instructions, I should
have used it.

Now I've got >85% unused capacity on one of the drives, could have cloned
and then put the old 40Gig into an external enclosure as a portable backup.
