New Hard Drive

D

Dan

Old drive is a Western Digital 20 gig. New drive is a WD
80 gig. Installed new, formatted, partioned etc and copied
old drive to new. On resart system boots from old drive.
New drive is detected, says it is drive D - 80 gig drive -
all copied files seem to be there.

Disconnect old drive, new drive is primary master - no
slave. System goes through BIOS then freezes in Win XP
blue screen with logo and mouse cursor.

WD support says the drive is fine - call Microsoft!!!

I set jumper as single master and as CS - same results.

BIOS sees the drive

Thanks

Hi,

Did you check to make sure that the new HD has the jumper
in as the Master instead of no jumper or cable select.
This should fix your boot up problem, I think, :).
