new hard drive now system locks up from time to time?

i have windows xp home i just installed new hard drive
and clean installed xp back on new drive everything seems
fine but at least once a day my system just locks up.this
never happened on my old dard drive.i have checked to
make sure i have all my latest drivers for my
hardware....i also added memory to.any ideas at all
please?

More likely a memory issue than a hard disk issue. Go to www.memtest86.com
and download memtest86 v3.0 (it is available for either bootable cd - an ISO
file or for floppy disk - I prefer the CD.) For whichever type you select,
create the appropriate disk and boot to that disk. Let it run through
several loops and if you have ANY errors reported, you have found the
problem - bad memory. Try the program again, with just the new memory - if
that checks out ok, try it again with just the old memory. If both modules
test OK by themselves but you have errors when they are together, your new
memory is probably incompatible with your old memory.
