New Hard Drive and Drive Image

This question might have an obvious answer, but I would like some validation
or instruction.

I have a full backup image on CD's (very time consuming, but I wanted
something off the computer) made with Powerquest Drive Image 7.0.

If my hard drive died and I had to get a new one, how would I get the image
onto the new drive? Would I need first to install the OS and the Powerquest
software before I could restore the image? The Help files with Drive Image
explain how to resetore on the same drive, but I'm not clear at all on how
to do this with a new drive. I just want to be prepared for when the
inevitable happens.

Thanks for any help and I hope that this is the right forum for this.

The Drive Image CD is itself bootable. You simply boot to it and
direct it to the first set of the image and complete the Restore.
