New Files in Windows Explorer Temp Folder

W

Warren

There are about 5 or 6 files in the Temp folder of my computer which begin
sqlite_ followed by a number/letter sequence. I cannot delete them as I get
a notice that they may be in use by another program. I haven't downloaded
any new program of late except for an update from McAfee for its antivirus
software.
Any suggestions as to what these are and what to do with them would be
appreciated.

Do you have MS Office? Did you install the Outlook Business Manager (or
whatever it's called)? That uses SQL. Otherwise, you have some program
installed that is using SQL. It would be smart to find out what it is
before you just delete them, although anything in Temp is fair game for
eventual deletion. Sometimes you can figure out what program they belong to
by right-clicking on one of the files and choosing Properties. If there is
a Version tab, click on it and note what it says.

If you really don't think they are related to anything, start the computer
in Safe Mode and try and delete them there. Do this by repeatedly tapping
the F8 key as the computer is starting up. This will get you to the right
menu. Navigate using your Up arrow key; the mouse will not work here.

Another way to delete files is by booting into Safe Mode Command Prompt and
deleting from the command line. Also see:
