new equation editor in Office 2007

I cannot believe that someone actually approved this. Probably the approver
never had to write a single equation in his/her entire life. This is the most
frustrating unfriendly interface I have ever seen.

If it were not for the possibility of using the old MS Equation 3.0 (which
still has a very bad UI, by the way) my life would be miserable now. Thanks

Ciao Giovanni

sounds like more than a rant than a suggestion. :)

Anyway: I doubt that whoever was responsible for the new Equation
feature in 2007 was as ignorant as you think. I must admit that it takes
me longer to create an equation now compared to the EE UI in 2003 and
earlier.

But that's probably true of most stuff. It's probably as with anything
Ribbon-wise: things are clearly more discoverable now. But not quicker
(at least, not for those who are accustomed to the old UI).

OTOH, if you really are going to do a lot of equations, you'll probably
learn in time in which category the operator/expression you're looking
for is in. Then, you might catch up to the old speed. And even if not
quite, I am sure that the (promised) stability of the new equations is
much better than it was with EE. As somebody who had to retype too many
of EE objects, lost "editabiliy" of some due to an Office update, I
refused to do any equations in Word without the MathType AddIn. Now, I'd
certainly give it a try again.
