New Documents

Word 2007.

When opening a new document in Word, the document opens as Document 4.

How can I change it so that all new documents open as Document 1.

This is caused by left-over temporary files on the system. First try
restarting Windows and, as a next step, follow the instructions at
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm to delete temporary
files.

Each time you start a New document (without having first closed Word),
it continues the numbering, even if you've properly saved and named
all the previous ones.
