Hi Guys &Gals
I have e-mail Asus but no response yet about this.
I have a home built PC which i put togather myself, works great except for
this little quirk.
Every once in a while, maybe once every week or two ,when i boot up in the
morning ,the bios says (new CPU installed) go to setup or hit F2 to load
default settings.
I have done both and everything works ok. I have also just hit the reset
button and the PC restarts and everything is normal again.
I have a Asus P4P800-E Deluxe Board with P4 3.2 Prescott proccesor. 1 gig of
memory. Running XP Pro.
What do you think might cause this/
Thanks

Dead CMOS battery would be my guess.

You should post to a hardware group. This is not an XP OS issue.

I have that same board and a pentium 4 3GHz in one of my computers. I can
tell you its a bios problem and you just have to live with it. Mine has done
it since new, its not overclocked in any way and as long as yours is not
overclocked its probably just the crappy bios. Change the battery to be
sure. but if it doesnt fix it you know your not alone.

Hi Glen
Thanks for the come back. This is my 2nd board like this and the same thing.
I guess i will do like you and live with it.
Its no big deal i guess , i just hit the reset button and reboot and it
comes up normal.
I flashed the bios on my other board and it still did the same thing.
Thanks guys

Replace the motherboard battery. Post back if still no joy.

Hi Plato
This is a new board as the other was.
But i guess that don't mean Asus couldn't have gotten a bad batch of
batterys.
I will give that a try.
Thanks
