My new computer automatically assigns itself a private IP address, eventhough I have the "aquire IP address" selected. I want it to aquire an IP address from the router. I have a Linksys Router with a Linksys 16 port switch and I use a Cisco router for internet access. I have 100 users enabled in the Linksys user interface. I have tried everything. The antivirus software is off and I have powered the router / switch off and on. There are 10 other used ports on the switch if that matters? I know the cable is good, there have been other machines on it. Any ideas? Thanks...

hi chad
(are you really using 2 routers on a single subnet? If so then how do you
have these set up to work together?)
Does ipconfig /all give you 0.0.0.0, 169.254.x.x or something else?
The first means your pc didnt seek out dhcp services, the second means it
looked for it but couldnt find it.
Try swapping the cable to another port on the linksys
Can you copy all the values for ipconfig /all and post them here please.
