IE6 / W98
A month ago when I wanted to log on to a web site, I would type, for
example, 'google' and IE would automatically add the 'www.' and the '.com.'
Now it does not. I know I can hit CTRL-ENTER and get the same result but I
am now used to IE doing it.
Also, when I was at a web site and had scrolled halfway down a page, if
I swlwcted a link and then went 'back' to the web site, IE would bring back
the page to the point where I has scrolled. NOw, when I select a link and
go back, IE places me back to the point I left on the page - but only for
2-3 seconds. It then moves me to the top of the page.
To my knowledge, I have changed no settings. How do I get IE back to
the way it was?

Old guy,
Some program (usually spyware\parasite) may have overridden the URL prefix
setting?

Mike, thanks for the response.
Tried the regedit fixes and the link. All suggested registry fixes are
already there.
No surprise - my problems still exist.
Possibly important. I am going to say 10-14 days ago I went to
royalcaribbean.com and recieved a message similar to "web pages will not
show properly due to an error in IE." I was directed to download and
install Q831167.exe which I did. Don't know if it worked or not and I don't
know if this is related but it may help you troubleshoot.
Now that I think of it, I can go to some web sites (e.g.,
royalcaribbean) and, on some pages, IE stops responding - I end up with
'The page cannot be displayed' and have to reboot. I thought it was a
modem problem. Could these be related?
